If you’re planning to re-install Windows on your computer you are going to want to have your product key handy. Here’s how you can find your product key.
Command Prompt
- Open Command Prompt by pressing Win+R and typing cmd or by searching cmd in your Start Menu
- Type wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey and press Enter
- Your product key should be displayed
*Note that newer versions of Windows (Windows 10 & Windows 11) don’t always have a product key as they may be licensed using a digital license.

You likely have a digital license which means Windows will automatically activate if you have to re-install.
